why not dual gf104? why this? dual gpu should be superior than the best of the best single gpu, while still maintaining its effeciency. if you want lower dual gpu performance, why not just sli it? why? why? why? (michael jackson style).

[citation][nom]thesmokingman14[/nom]But, at $129 for 1 gpu and probably around $240 for the dual version, it would be cheaper and easier to just purchase a GTX 460. At the very least, even if they are priced the same, one would not gain very much. So, WHAT'S THE POINT!?![/citation]

They kind of mentioned it in the article it's for the other features NVIDIA puts on the card more likely for the GPU coders. Folding at home will process twice as quick.

Looks like this is a good alternative to a single GTX 470 and a 5870.

[citation][nom]flyinfinni[/nom]Man- for less money, pick up 2 5750's in crossfire and get similar performance, or heck- spend the SAME money and pick up 2 5770's and get much better performance!http://hardocp.com/article/2010/09 [...] d_review/9[/citation]

Based on the 1920x1200 resolution on a single monitor...

5770cf peaks a little higher at times but also has lower minimum framerates at times. Where are you seeing "much better performance"? 5750cf makes sense at $40 less, but if I was gonna spend that extra cash I would still go Nvidia.

Mafia II = 450sli
BFBC2 = 5770cf
Metro = Either (ati has 1fps better on average where nvidia has 3fps higher minimum)
Splinter Cell = Who cares?

Now, there is a decent performance gap at 2560 and three monitor setups but... who spends 1K on a monitor (or three) and then throws $200-250 of vid card at them. I think for a multi display setup a 460SLI setup would be the minimum for me (unless I only played WoW).

Give us a Dual GPU GF104 card! Two GTX 460's in SLI are a force to be reckoned with. A single 2GB card would be able to draw less power and cost less while still offering the same performance.

$399 for 25% more performance than a GTX 480? Yes plz!

Well.... actually when you put it that way I see why nVidia would never build it 🙁

I wonder if they'd make it sli with a single chip 450. as a possible upgrade for people who would but a 450 now and get this later. if so that'd definatly be a neat way to turn a budget gaming card into a force to be reconed with ... and 4 of these in quadfire woudl probably be pretty awsome results as well

[citation][nom]killerchickens[/nom]It should be about as fast as a 4870 x2?[/citation]

So its two (soon) generations behind ATI/AMD dual GPU cards. Simply wow!

Kitguru was merely speculating, there's no source or anything, they just threw the idea off their hats...

Because so far SLI has nearly doubles performance. Two 450 in SLI beats the 470 in some cases!

Exactly, heres the performance summary of gts 450 slI, what this card would deliver.
Its basically 4870X2 performance while running cool and sipping power compared to that monster. More choices for powerful performance. Also dual gpu's would give the card 3d, 3d surround support out of the gate.

How about comparing it to current generation ATI cards. HD5750 in CrossFireX beats that thing and has better performance/Watt. So does HD5770 in cfx.

Wrong. Radeons do not scale as good as SLI.

I figured if they were going to make a dual gpu card, it would be on the GF104 architecture. Oh well, as far as I'm concerned, it's another card that could possibly be coming out, and if it performs well for it's price, then I might consider buying it.

Might as well just release a maxcore edition of the gtx 460.
A gtx 460 x2 would be nice, they could call it the gtx 475 or something so they can sell it for 400 to destroy the 5870.

What is this a budget card? If Nvidia can lower the power without compromising performance then that's a whole new product that will compete intel.

[citation][nom]Marco925[/nom]i wouldn't necessarily say they're playing catch up, i own AMD Systems myself and they run very well. not only that, they're better performance per dollar. pairing up AMD and ATI allows for a great system to be built for a great price.[/citation]

i totally agree with you...all i am saying is that intel is still more superior when it comes to R&D and their products

"the more the merrier"

No. thats a false equation. IF there was 2000 gpus in a single card would we be celebrating?. NO we would be burning like hell!

I want 2 of these dual GTS 450 beasts for Folding.
One board with 2-slot cooling please, not 3-slot, nor sandwich of 2 boards, please.
