News Nvidia reportedly sources GDDR7 chips from SK hynix for RTX 50-series GPUs

The rumors regarding Blackwell and GDDR7 were that AIBs were not sourcing their own memory because it was actually cheaper to get it from nvidia with the GPUs due to the contracts nvidia had. If this is indeed nvidia themselves buying it then it may be to keep the AIBs in line. Hopefully volume of GDDR7, especially 24Gb, increases to the point where prices drop as that may help stabilize video card pricing.

Isn't it actually up to the AIBs which brand they use? All Nvidia does is verify it is good enough and will work so they likely verified Samsung first, then SK Hynix and likely Micron too. Ultimately it is up to the AIB which manufacturers they buy from as long as the memory has been certified by Nvidia.
