That 40mm dimension is most certainly wrong, but the other two dimensions fit with standard ATX PSUs.

It has two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, that's probably why you're confused. 6+2 = 8. This is the typical setup.

What is the brand & model of your DVD drive? Most are powered by a SATA power connector.

I have an old IDE optical drive connected to a modern power supply. It does have a slot for what I think you're talking about, but I don't have anything plugged into it and it works just fine.
So unless your optical drive doesn't work, don't worry about it
