Hello!

I tried to install a new GPU in my PC for video editing but I've got a black screen after boot when the drivers were installed.

Things I've tried to fix it:
* Use a different monitor
* Use DDU to delete any drivers + install latest drivers or old versions.
* Update motherboard BIOS

My system is a bit old (2016). This is my setup:
* Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P
* RAM: 16GB
* Power source: Tacens Radix VII AG 700W 80 Plus Silver
* OS: Windows 10

Do you think it could be a compatiblity issue? Or a faulty GPU?

Thanks in advance for your help

I've got a black screen after boot when the drivers were installed
how are accessing the system if all you get is a black screen after the first new driver initialization?

you need to include your complete system specs.
if you are using onboard CPU graphics that needs to be included.
Power source: Tacens Radix VII
these are very low budget PSU models.
my first step would be to replace this with something reliable.

i wouldn't be surprised if it just cannot provide stable power to this dedicated card.

During boot I was using the onboard graphics.

Sorry, I didn't think those were relevant. These are the specs for the onboard graphics, taken from here

Integrated Graphics Processor- Intel® HD Graphics support:
  1. 1 x D-Sub port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
  2. 1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
    * The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
  3. 1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24 Hz
    * Support for HDMI 1.4 version.
  4. Support for up to 3 displays at the same time
  5. Maximum shared memory of 1024 MB
And in case it can be useful, this is the complete setup:
* Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P
* RAM: 16GB (G.Skill Ripjaws V Red DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 16GB 2x8GB CL15)
* Power source: Tacens Radix VII AG 700W 80 Plus Silver
* OS: Windows 10
* SSD: Samsung 850 Evo SSD Series 120GB SATA3
* HDD: Seagate Desktop 7200.14 2TB SATA3 64MB
* Case: NOX Hummer ZX USB 3.0
* Processor: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Box
* GPU I was trying to add: MSI RTX3060Ti 3X 8G Ventus (I'm trying to replace a MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB)
* Cooler: Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H75

Thank you very much for the advice on the PSU. Would you have any specific advice for a reliable power source?

Cheers!

These are the specs for the onboard graphics
didn't actually mean the specifics about the CPU's iGPU.

just the fact that you were using it at all vs the dGPU along with the rest of your system specifics, like which CPU, etc....
Would you have any specific advice for a reliable power source?
check some PSU rating sites,
Tom's old thread,
and check the warranty period for any unit you may find; at least 10 year is the minimum for me.

the warranty length can help identify how much quality and trust the manufacturer actually has put into the product.
