Hello, i am looking to buy a media all in one box. I have recently been looking at both mi box and roku. But there are some big cons on both of them. The lack of ethernet port and the lack of 1GB ethernet port is just awful. So i recently got my eyes up for the Nvidia shield android Tv. I am mostly going to use it as a plex media player (not server). And regarding this i have some questions. How does the nvidia shield function as a player, and does it directplay most formats? My library mostly consists of avi and mkv files with h264 and h265. I also have a sweet home theatre which support mot dolby formats, so getting the most out of this would also be nice.

second question is. I know the shield has a game stream feature. Is it possible to "stream" my pc screen to the tv, and still play at the pc at the same time, instead of playing it on the tv. Lets say i am playing battlefield, and i get some friends over. Is it possible to stream my pc screen the the shield which is connected to the Tv? I know you can stream it to your TV and play with the controller. But i am only looking at streaming the screen tho the tv, and play at the computer instead.

Also do you think there will be a shield 2? The nvidia android tv is over a year old now, and it would suck big time if i get one now, and they release a new one at the beginning of the year. I know its hard to always have the latest when your in the technology branch.

OK... got me on that... I only do Bluray ripped movies.

Get a sff pc w/ an i5 and a giga port running windows 10 on a SSD. Watch the Plex @ max from it. I've not messed w/ the quality settings o my Plex much. I get great viewing from the Roku, cannot tell the difference from the bluray direct play.

I'm messing w/ a movie now on this system, using the Chrome Plex app. Setting the view on the "Edge of Tomorrow" to "Original Quality"

ok... Watching Oblivion (1080P) and playing online FPS game w/ Chrome open.... Highest network download is about 4.75MB/s

I'll see what the network draw is when I stream it movie once the Optimization is complete...

Roku only has 10/100 ethernet port.... I have UHD movies with over 100mbs average. So i need something which supports gigabit ethernet.
