I know it wont happen right away..but dear god do I wish companies would refuse to use proprietary stuff.

it just creates more cost long term & empowers already leading companies to retain even more power over sector.

Custom console? Nintendo Switch 2 is an obvious one.

AI? I'm sure they would do it if handed the cash, but some of the tech giants are making their own. Nvidia has been involved with automotive throughout the driverless hype cycle.

Telecom is the odd one out. It seems like they would face stiff competition. Intel's 24-core Atom products are for telecom base stations, AMD has similar products and their cheaper "Siena" Epyc chips were pitched for telecom. And I'm sure there are other ARM options.
