Nvidia to release 6800 PRO?

Some interesting info from an italian website as reported by the Inquirer:

GeForce 6800 Ultra: GPU clock 400 MHz; memory clock 1,1 GHz (DDR3); 16 pipeline
GeForce 6800 PRO: GPU clock 350 MHz; memory clock 1 GHz (DDR3); 12 pipeline
GeForce 6800: GPU clock 350 MHz; memory clock 700 MHz (DDR); 12 pipeline

Interesting. the 6800 PRO would compete with the X800 PRO, the 6800 ULTRA would compete with the X800 XT.
Although the 12-pipe 6800 should be too much for the 8-pipe X800SE... probably not a good match on the bottom end.

So far I haven't heard of one. Just the 6800, 6800 PRO, and 6800 Ultra.

Although, Nvidia sometimes allows partners to cut the memory bandwidth in half without calling the card a different name (there are 64 and 128 bit versions of the 5200 and they are all called 5200s), so there may be a 128 bit version of the 6800 or something like that... but only time will tell.

62 bit cards? That's pretty deceptive.

You would preorder a GF6800pro without seeing how it performs or how ATi's cards will perform? Unless you are filthy rich or would only buy an NV card for some odd reason, That's totally insane IMO.

ABIT IS7, P4 2.6C, 512MB Corsair TwinX PC3200LL, Radeon 9800 Pro, Santa Cruz, TruePower 430watt

truthfully its his money we can suggest that it would not be wise to order it yet but, its still his money ya know?

I'm just glad it's not mine. I wonder if he preordered an FX5800U also.

Waiting to see what R420 can do is smart.

Yeah I pre ordered the 5800, you can see its in my sig disguised as the geforce mx440.

I wouldnt want to preorder the card if I didnt have 500 sitting around for a video card, and from what ive seen from toms reviews and read, I want it, low resolution might not be any huge gains over a 9800 xt but once the resolutions go up we see where the advantage is, Im not blindly buying this card, but have asked and found out about everything I didnt know and am still impressed with it after the homework. The term invidiot isnt around for nothin.

I really dont care if this card does suck or has problems seeing as its gonna blow away pretty much anything out except maybe the ati 9800 xt, Id rather drive the porsche and still smoke your honda even if my engine is knocking =P. And as for ati putting out something better, they probably will put out something better, everybody is gonna put out something better, the next best thing is always around the corner, and the second you buy it, something better is coming out from someone else again. Ive put off upgrading my vid card for years, thats why im getting a geforce 6800 and not a radeon 9800 pro, Ive been putting it off and putting it off waiting for something better. Something better is here, and might not be the better in a few months, but Im fine with that. You get 10 fps in bfv and wait another couple months...

The question remains however, as impressive as the 6800 is, why have you decided to buy it before the X800 is released so you can at least compare the two?

Nvidia did mention about their 6800Ultra 512mb DDR3? When's that coming? Isn't that suppose to compete with the X800XT, since the X800XT has 512mb DDR3 ram.

I think if the 6800nu has 256bit memory bandwidth, then the X800SE has absolutely no chance.

Um... hate to say this, but it looks like the X800 will probably be on store shelves before the 6800.

Just because something has been officially announced first doesn't mean it'll be available first...

I hear ya dude.

FYI, the X800 should be announced/benchmarked on the 4th of May (7 days away), and both cards should be on the market soon after that.

To the victor go the spoils!

7 days is a long time. I just hope it's not a toss up. I'm foaming at the mouth to go on my video card rampage against the loser.

Exactly what I was going to say. By the time the preorder gets to him X800 probably will be available and his preorder MIGHT not look so good anymore. And next week we should know more about ATI's $399 card.

LOL, Well you could be too embarrassed to put FX5800U hoover edition in your signature. Or maybe you sold it off quickly after realizing the FX5800U wasn't all it was PR'ed to be and then upgraded to that quiet MX440?

By the way, it was a joke. Still why not wait? What is the preorder going to do for you?

Im gonna wait, your end all end demonic prophecy of nvidias downfall has convinced me to at least wait for the comparison. Plus if by some odd chance, ati's card is better, we want the best here dont we. =|
