Nvlddmkm.sys Crash causing a massive problem

This past weekend i have been stressing my PC a bit to the max though nothing it hasn't handled before. I was just playing the game PAYDAY 2 when i got the Nvlddmkm.sys crash. i thought to myself "Ok no big deal i can get this fixed in about 10 minutes" shortly after reboot Realtek starts trying to update ethernet drives in BIOS or something of the sort and does this every start up. so i thought "maybe i should see if i can do anything with my OS Disk." well that ended up being in vain due to the fact that any time i try to run a repair or even everything back my partitioned hard drives are no longer readable and need to be reformatted.

Is there anything i can do to fix this without formatting any of my drives or sacrifice as little as possible.

Since i don't have my desktop with me at the moment all i can provide is that my video card is a Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT

What driver version are you using? I would start with uninstalling/re-installing the Nvidia driver. Uninstall the driver, but don't reboot. This will ensure drivers/profiles are all reset to default, and installed as it should be.

okay that sounds a little different. If it's a boot problem, could be faulty disk, seeing as it won't post. As for realtek trying to update before the OS even loads, that sounds completely wrong. There shouldn't be any prog that would try to update before posting is complete. Even the bios, for the most part is a manual update, so why a realtek app would seemingly ask to be updated before the OS even loads, is beyond me!!

Battery for CMOS, any jumpers are in their correct position etc. basically make sure the fundamental side of having the hardware in place, and correctly seated is important starting point.

alright so i completely resetting my Cmos that didn't help out either but i did take another look at the whole realtek thing again and to figure out it wasnt trying to update. it was a PXE-E61 media test error. and after a bit of looking at what that means i need to head back and see if my cables are shot or something.

as far as specs go all i can really put out is that im running 4GBs of ram, an Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT, an intel duo core that runs at 1.63 GHz (i think), with a San disk 64GB SSD, and a seagate barracuda 3TB running on a Vista 32bit OS, and lastly an EVGA Mobo that i cant really get more info out of.


EDIT: alright i tried moving my sata cables to different connectors and that didn't do anything either so i might see if doing a clean install on the OS drive will fix it.

jeez, this one's tough!! Well, that's a good point. I would maybe try replace the cables as opposed just trying them in a different connector. Also, if you had a second PSU you could try swap that just to be sure. Sounds like maybe there's a fault with the mobo, and given that the mobo is prob 5+ years old (that's based on he socket and CPU) that could easily be the case.

well... this has been the most confusing issue i have ever had with this PC. i was able to get ahold of another tower and the SSD is working just fine on it. i can't tell where the source of the issue is.

you've ruled out almost all possibilities, and whatever is left is the most likely.
It seems to me, that your mobo is slowly dying. sorry, not very helpful that!

well this seems to be the weird part. im in the OS Disk and i just reformatted the SSD on the other PC. it isn't working but my 3 TB HDD is. i don't think either of us could fathom the reason for that since every connection i used on the SSD was also done on the HDD and the HDD worked perfectly every time.
