Hi,

I'm upgrading my i7-4790K to the following:

Mobo: MSI MAG Z590 TORPEDO
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-Z590-TORPEDO/Overview
CPU: I5-10600KF
Ram: CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2X8GB) 3000MHZ
Storage: SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS 500GB M.2 NVME

I have two questions, which sockets should I install my GPU (RTX2060) and the M.2 NVMe in to? Considering I am going to be running a 10th gen CPU.

Storage:
  • 6x SATA 6Gb/s ports (From Z590 chipset) 1
  • 3x M.2 slots (Key M)
    • M2_1 slot (From CPU)
      • Available only on 11th Gen Intel® CPU
      • Supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4
      • Supports 2242/ 2260/ 2280/ 22110 storage devices
    • M2_21 & M2_3 2 slot (From Z590 chipset)
      • Supports up to PCIe 3.0 x4
      • Supports SATA up to 6Gb/s
      • Supports 2242/ 2260/ 2280 storage devices
      • Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready 3
    • Supports Intel® Smart Response Technology for Intel Core™ processors
Expansion:
  • 2x PCIe x16 slots
    • 1x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (from CPU)
      • Support up to PCIe 4.0 for 11th Gen Intel® CPU
      • Support up to PCIe 3.0 for 10th Gen Intel® CPU
    • PCI_E3 (From Z590 chipset)
      • Support up to PCIe 3.0 x4
  • 2x PCIe 3.0 x1 slots (From Z590 chipset)

for gpu, the one closest to the cpu
for m.2, use the m2_2 or m2_3

Okay thank you.

I'm now thinking of getting the i5 11400F instead of the 10600KF. If I do this, would I install the m.2 in to the m2_1? Actually if I only get the 970 Evo Plus, this is only a gen 3 drive so I wouldn't see the benefit if I installed it in the M2_1 slot would I.

Thanks
