Is there any advantage of having my nvme m.2 drive, which is in slot 2, to be in slot 1?

Should I leave it there? If I should move it to slot 1, which is nearer to the CPU, do I need a heatsink, or is that for faster drives?

Looking at the specs -- https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-IX-HERO/specifications/
Both of the M.2 slots support the same interface
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)*2
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)*3

If you look at the footnotes, you lose more SATA ports with your M.2 in the 2nd slot. That is the only drawback.

So basically no performance improvement, other than I'm currently have lost those SATA ports?
