[SOLVED] NVMe PCIe vs SATA M.2 support

Stoopid question: Haven't built a computer in over 10 years so pretty ignorant about M.2 SATA SSD & M.2 NVMe PCIe drives. I assumed they would both work in my M.2 slots but this may not be the case as I plugged in a Samsung V-NAND SSD 850 EVO M.2 drive into my mother board (Asrock x670e Steel Legend). Specs read:

• 1 Blazing M.2(PCIe Gen5x4),
  3 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4),
  4 SATA3

Does this mean that the PCIe M.2 Slots will not support my M.2 SSD drive?

there are keying.

look like it. not support sata type m.2

Thank you. Looking closer at the connections on the two: the NVMe has 3 and the SSD has 2. Learn something new every day!
