Lenovo ThinkCentre Models M90t and M90s, gen 5...

Do these models support bootable NVMe RAID? The manual doesn't make it clear if RAID 0/1 is for SATA or NVMe.

Insight is appreciated.

Thanks.

PS
I'm behind times a little. Last time I looked into this, bootable NVMe RAID was not a thing yet, you had to go SATA if you wanted SSD RAID. Do we have this capability now?

RAID 1... Disk redundancy.

I've had a catastrophic experience with sudden death of SSD so I'm paranoid now. Unlike mechanical disk no data secovery was possible on the SandForce controller SSD. I appreciate not turning this into a debate.
And a RAID 1 also requires a strong backup routine.
I've also had sudden total death of an SSD.
100% of the data recovered from the overnight backup.

I do not know whether your ThinkCentre can boot from an OS volume as RAID 1.
So I shall bow out.

It's not that we don't think backups are good ideas -- just the opposite -- only that we don't want to recommend a RAID-based redundancy solution offering a pseudo-backup when a proper backup solution is what is needed.

Back on topic please.

The manual does mention RAID for M90 models but does not make it clear if it's for SATA or NVMe. Lenovo could not figure it out either.

I don't have the machine to "just try it", but I also don't want my employer ordering a machine that won't do RAID in the end.
This is for a work laptop?

What does your IT dept say about RAID, backups, and whatever...

Desktop.

No individual backup solutions for workstations. Servers backup to a NAS.

Workstation users are to store work files in a personal directory on a network share, however this does provide ability to recover a bootable system in the event of disk failure, and I value the way I have my tools set up. Even if I don't lose my "documents" the configuration is just as valuable to me, but not to my employer.

Please no debate. These are not my decisions either way.
