Solution
Correct, if i could use NVMe as my main drive instead of an SSD.

To clarify.....

You want to use a SSD as your windows C drive.
It can be either a pcie drive or a sata drive.
You could use a 2.5" sata ssd.
For example samsung 860 evo 2.5"

It will require a sata port on the motherboard as well as a sata power cable .

Or you could use a m.2 sata ssd.
It will require a m.2 slot on your motherboard. No other power or data cable is required.
Example is a samsung 860 evo m.2

It will perform the same as the sata version above.

The best would be a m.2...
You have your nomenclature a bit off.

M.2 is a size format, about the size of a stick of gum.
m.2 drives come in both sata and nvme(pcie) flavors.
NVME is a specification about communications over the pcie bus.

In general, the low latency of either sata or pcie ssd devices is very good and not very different.
For the most part, windows does small random I/O operations at low queue depths.

The place where a pcie device shines is in sequential data transfers. It is some 5x faster, depending on the device.
This also comes at a higher price.

In truth, you would not much notice the difference. A sequential virus scan, for example.

The best would be a m.2 pcie ssd(AKA nvme ssd)
Example: samsung 970 m.2 pcie x4

It will be faster sequentially, compared o a sata ssd.

The term NVME is a i/o protocol which can be used by HDD devices as well as SSD devices.
