NZXT H2 Front Fans Not Working

Hey guys

I bought an NZXT H2 tower for my setup about a little over a year ago. Once I finished building, I double checked all the connections etc. etc., everything looked okay. When I booted the system, I realized my front fans didn't work. There are 2 & they both just never started up. I thought I had missed a connection, but I was excited to see it in action so I didn't care to check.

I'm selling my setup now & I just opened the case to check the connections again. All connections are solid. Solder joints are solid. Fans still don't work. I'm thinking the problem is I got a couple of bad fans, but it seems unlikely to me that coincidentally both fans we're faulty out of the box. I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to experiment with another fan, but if anyone has had this issue or something similar & can shed some light on the situation, I'd like to experiment before I go buy another fan. Thanks

Thanks for the reply ferret. Of course, I can't believe I didn't think of this. The fans are clip-on in the front, but I disassembled the clip connection & plugged the fans directly into the mobo (psu didn't have any access). They work. So now I'm sure its the clip connection, but all the joints look solid so I still cant find the issue. I'm going to try & reheat the solder joints to ensure the connections. I'll let you guys know how it works out, but keep the ideas comin!

Okay so while I was reheating some of the solder joints, I realized the fan controller was connected directly to the clip connections on the right side of the tower. This is where the fans clip on. I also noticed there wasn't a wire coming from the psu that connected to the fan controller (i.e. fan clip-connections as well). There is a 4-pin male connection on the right side of the tower coming from the fan controller that wasn't being used & could fit a connection from the psu, so this is why the front fans weren't getting any power. The thing is, I don't have any spare 4-pin female wires coming from the psu that are suitable to connect to the fan controller. I have 2 msi 6870 twin frozer III gpu's installed, & they're taking up the only suitable 4-pin power supply connections. I tried disconnecting one of the gpu's & using it to connect the fan controller on the right side of the tower & voila - the 2 front fans are functional.

So this puts me in a bit of a bind. Does anyone know of any 120mm fans that run on battery power? I could replace the front two with something like this, & that would give me the extra cooling I so desire. Either that or if anyone knows of any wires that I could use as an extension wire so I can connect the fans directly to my mobo via the remaining 3-pin fan prongs...but that may be a stupid question.

Any & all solutions are welcome, help!
