Can an NZXT Kraken X62 liquid CPU cooler radiator be easily mounted in the top of a Fractal Design Define R6 case. My local computer shop says they have to mount it at the front

Solution
Sorry Barty, but you are mistaken. I have an R6 on my desk next to me.

The R6 supports mounting 120mm, 140mm, 240mm, 280mm, 360mm and even 420mm radiators in the top of the case.

If fitting 140/280/420 radiators you will have to be aware of clearance of RAM heatspreaders and VRM heatsinks, as this can be rather tight. 360mm will not allow a DVD drive to be fitted and 420mm radiators will also require the removal of the 5.25" bay bracket at the top of the front panel.

I'm not certain, but I believe you may also need to move the panel that the HDD sleds mount to, to the other side of the case so it sits flush next to the motherboard tray.

Also, you can't fit a 420mm with a 360mm in the front at the same time, as they would clash...

Fwiw, it does say this on the page you linked to;
"Top radiator
Standard layout: - 120/240/360 mm (max 35 mm motherboard component height)
Open layout: - 120/240/360 mm - 140/280/420 mm (max 35 mm motherboard component height)"
