I have an Abit BX6 v1.0 Motherboard 440BX chipset, 128MB PC100 SDRAM, ATI expert 98 8MB video card, currently o/c Celeron 300A to 450 at 100MHz PSB. I intend to upgrade to Celeron 533A o/c to 800MHz because BX6 can support up to 8.0x multiplier. But 533A is very hard to find, I'm considering 566 or 633 because someone at EBAY suggests that any motherboard will automatically recognize the locked multiplier of 8.5x or 9.0x.

Can somebody tell me whether Celeron 566 or 633 will work on Abit BX6 in my system?

TomT,
I just upgraded my system from 366A @ 550 to a Cel II 566 @
876 (8.5 x 103). BUT my MB is a BX6 rev. 2. If the muliplier is a max of 8 then it is a hardware issue not BIOS, you are out of luck. The 533A Cel II costs more but *could* work at 8x 103= 824Mhz or maybe you could run the bus speed higher- I don't know the limitations of the BX6.
Mine locked up at FSB of 112 (PC100 memory or GeForce2 MX ?)

The 533 coppermine celeron is not that hard to find... found one in a retail kit for 99 dollars.. and you can get a FC-PGA to slot one converter for 20 bucks i plan on buying it for my bx6 1.0

Bought a cC0 SL4PA Celeron633. The BX6-v1.0 posts it as Pentium III 906EB? at 100FSB, any multiplier setting. WCPUID identifies it as 952@100Mhz. Rock solid at default 1.7v! Can't believe it!
