I'm so confused. I've put in hours following guides on so many forums and I can't seem to figure out the issue. I have a high end system.

Windows 10
i9-9900k @ 5.1 ghz
16 gb DDR4 3200 mhz
GTX 1080 Ti @ 2050 mhz

I'm trying to use OBS to record my gameplay. I'd like to have 1080p60 but i'm satisfied with 1080p30. No matter the settings, I can't get the recordings to be clear and smooth. I've noticed whenever I hit record, my framerate in games gets cut severely. For example, when playing Destiny 2 with no recording I range between 135-144 fps with gpu usage at around 98-99% and cpu usage varies between 18-26%. As soon as OBS starts recording (Source 2560x1440 scaled to 1920x1080) frame rate constantly shoots between 60 and 120 with huge spikes every half second or so. CPU usage rises to no more than 50% and GPU usage obviously stays the same. I've tried a wide range of bitrates, settings, presets and so on. On battlefield 5 it actually gets weird. same settings I drop from 115-120 to 50-90 with constant hiccups. But my cpu usage is around 60% and gpu usage at 75%. All vidoes are blurry and are super jumpy.

My games are ran from 1 SSD and OBS records to another SSD. Both SSD's are less than 50% full.

I don't really know what to try anymore.

Yeah there are a lot of games that will just not work with CPU streaming because they are made for consoles and don't have any code to make them work nicely with background apps.

You can use the qsv or nvenc encoders in OBS those will use the iGPU or your nvidia card and will not interfere with your game.
