The original CPU was a Pentium D 935. I replaced it with a E6300 and the results were disappointing. Is it possible to OC this MB and if so how?

I've tried googling without any results.

Thank you.

Please quantify what you mean by disappointing. What slowed down?

In any case, I don't think your motherboard is designed to overclock easily. If there are no options within the BIOS, you may have to open up your system and look for any OC jumpers. Alternatively, you can check with Gateway itself over what's possible.

Also, your slowdowns may be due to incompatibilities between your mobo and the newer processor. Are there any firmware updates available for your desktop? Maybe you can try installing that and see if the update improves your system performance.

Thank you for the responses. Bios does not open up the voltages to overclock, but the 945GCL chipset from everything I read should support the Core 2 Duo. I'll have to dig a little deeper.

Thank you all again.

Using the MS Vista performance measurement, it went from 5.1 to 4.7. On the other side, the RAM and HD values went faster.
