Ok, so i have a Phenom 9550 @ 2.2GHz, had it a year, got Liquid cooling for Xmas (parents idk why?!) and my cpu temps were at like 28c TOPS on a 6 hour PRIME stress test, so im like cool lets OC that **** cuz heat is no problem!!! Well i got a new mobo cuz Asus M3A's cannot OC so i got a Gigabye MA770, its amazing, i used the desktop overclocking tool to OC, and thats when hell broke lose!!!

So the stats of the CPU are as follows (NO OC)
Multiplier 11
FSB 200
Vcore 1.2

And i read all of the guides and mine is not a Black edition so i have a locked multiplier so i upped the FSB, seems ok at 210, 220, and i typed in 230 BUT im dumb and put in 320, hit set and yea... it was stable for about 40 sec, im like HOLY **** WTF?!? My core speed went up to 3.5 GHZ, system crashed wt BSOD!

I went into BIOS set everything to straight most stable defaults

I started it up, worked fine, typed in my password and when windows makes the log in sound, mine breaks up, freaks out, mouse goes nuts for like 10 sec, then everything seems fine!

And now i get about 1 random BSOD a week and a random lockup every 1 or 2 days!

Did it mess up my OS (please say so cuz thats the cheapest replacement!!) Did i fry it? Please help me out guys, Everything is at defaults except my RAM and thats at 1066MHz, i ran a stress test for 4 hours over night, the comp was frozen solid in the AM when i checked it, but i restarted and PRIME said i passed every test!

Im on the computer right now, and this is really making me worried cuz i hate BSOD!!!

TY FOR ALL THE HELP!!!

First of all you need to be absolutely positive the CMOS completely cleared after that little screw up, you need to pull the power from the machine, and with the power to the machine pulled follow the manuals instructions and clear the CMOS, then repower, boot up, and go in the CMOS setup and reset your CMOS settings, date, time and whatever else needs to be normally set for your setup.

After doing that if the problem continues post the results.

is it the same BSOD message every time ? it might have nothing to do with your cpu or ram.

and yeah, make sure the cmos is really cleared and back to factory defaults.

Ok, i just reset the CMOS by turning power off, unpluging it, and removing the battery, my manual didn't show me how to do it but i goggled it and found a forum on how a guy was told by gigabyte to do it that way. The intro logging in sound still has errors but no BSOD yet, next time it happens ill write down what it says and forward it here, thanks guys, i hope that did something!.

I know that now Shadow!

Ok so i have reset the CMOS and last night i had a lockup where screen went black and sound went crazy repeating.

Would it be my OS, or my MOBO? If it is my mobo i can try to RMA to newegg, but if its not i dont wanna waste the time.

Your motherboard is not a great OVERCLOCKING MOTHERBOARD. It features SB600 chipset which is weak for overclocking anyway. I would only expect 10-15% overclockability with it.
