hello everyone!!
my current specs:
intel e5400 2.7ghz penitum dual core cpu
nvidia geforce 210
local psu (i dont know of which brand)
2gb ram ddr2
asus p5kmpl am/ps
hdd 320gb
dvd rom
i am upgrading my old computer to play some latest graphic intensive games like crysis 3,
i finally decided to buy nvidia gtx 750 , 2 gb additional stick of ram to add to existing 2gb ram and to make 4gb,corsair cx 430..
it was alright but yesterday some told me that my processor is too old and will botlleneck latest gpus like nvidia gtx 750(non ti)!
so i thought of oc and before oc my processor i noted temps, it was maximum 87 C (on full load of 30 minutes)
AFTER oc above 4.0ghz my os was crashing , at last the final clock was 3.6 GHZ whcih was stable.
my os loaded all was good and stable but i thought to take a test of cpu temp after oc it to 3.6ghz
so i heavily stressed my cpu by a software and my temps exceeded 86 c and my os crashed!
i got afraid and reverted my cpu to stock..
are these temps common? my cpu was on stock (maximum 87c) and now its exceeding 90 C
i m afraid please suggest a way to cool this thing..
what about a good cpu cooler? 😀
currently i m on stock settings
thank u !!
while writing this my temps are around 55c.

Solution

90C is far too hot. I would take a look at getting one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

You SHOULD NOT be overclocking right now. It is dangerous for the CPU to run it at that heat.

What computer case are you using? We need to make sure the above cooler will fit in your case.

Hope that helps!

thank u sir but i live in india and hyper 212 is too expensive here (3000rs or 51$!!)..
i am using a iball cabinet i dont know the model..
i do not have proper ventillation air because my psu has exhaust fan not working properly and it lacks a big intake fan in cabinet like corsair cx 430..
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/cooler-master-hyper-212x-cpu/197259676
i am upgrading my computer and i have a budget of 13000rs or 222$
i have to buy one gpu (nvidia gtx750 non ti)
8500rs
corsair cx 430 (because my psu is crap and does not have enough amps on 12v)
2780 rs
it leaves 1720 rs for cpu fan and i can extend my budget a little..
i have to oc this pentium or there will be a big bottleneck with GPU..
yesterday i opened my cabinet in dront of ac and oced my cpu from 2.7GHZ to 3.8 GHZ fully stable.
i ran some tests and then reverted to stock..
please suggest a cooler for this oc settings...
thank u sir. 😀

The Corsair CX430 is not the best power supply, I would look for other ones like this: http://www.snapdeal.com/product/antec-vp450p-smps/1251897

Here is a good cooler in your price range: http://www.snapdeal.com/product/antec-a40-cpu-cooler/1251893

I have the Cooler Master TX3. It's good, but not great. I think the one listed above is probably a bit better than the TX3.

Hope that helps!

Solution

In that case, i'd just get the Cooler Master TX3. It is a more proven and well known product worldwide, and it comes with a little tube of thermal paste. That would probably be cheaper than buying thermal paste separately.

Have fun!
