Octigen M170E5 Monitor picture blinks, LED ON, hissing sound - HELP!

Hello to All,

Its about monitor Octigen M170E5 failling to display picture repeatedly.

Very loud hissing sound heard from the back, continuous.

Took it apart and make some inside photos.

On the back of the Mboard that provides power is extra element, solderd by hands as seen on photos. Residues of solder also very near to this element.

any domed or raised caps on that board or any raised caps on the power board minus the 1 you replaced? do you have or can borrow a multi-meter to trace the power button circuit from the menu board to the power board?

Ok. Next thing is to look for domed caps on both boards.
I have a multimeter and its digital one.
Am I doing circuit inspection for
voltage drop on menu board while power ON, or OFF?

I think the problem is on the power board which is why you are to follow the power button traces from the menu board to the power board.

Ok. It will take same time do it properly.

Power button ends on video ctrl, and then through 12 pin connector video ctrl is connected to power board just to make sure what I looking for?

Will proceed with caps check.

Is this post considered SOLVED? Don't think so? What is exactly that I have to do to make it like that.

Just so you know, I m using this monitor all the time and didn't do anything else with power board, except checking for bad caps. I m okay with state of it, it's doing the job, listing all products and services on a front door of my Co.

I guess the thread got too old that it lost the "solved" option. I'm still using this 24" that I had fixed with no problems. no problems. teach & learn.
