So now, we will be able to go to a virtual arcade, and play pacman? Wow. And go into a virtual room, watch someone else play games on a Twitch stream? So revolutionary!

I guess you typed that comment using a computer connected to a monochrome green-phosphor CRT monitor, isn't it? Because you're clearly allergic to advances in visual interface technology...

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

Seriously, I played Pacman in arcades. They were dangerous, seedy places. Back in the 80's. And also played and took my turn with the controller playing nes games, such as Contra. Back then, we did have green phosphor screens with DOS on them. Some rich kid with a 4000$+ system had "The Adventures of Willy Beamish", and we all gathered around, watching him, suggesting what he might try. We never made it to the end. There was no internet, no walkthrough. We printed a shirt with his friends picture. Then we were punished and game over.

And now, with thousand dollars VR, you can virtually re-create what my nightmarish childhood was like. But you'll never taste it. Never smell it. Never feel it. And it will seem so stupid, because we aren't back then. We'll never be.

VR could be cool. But the people creating the "ecosystem" are stupid. So it won't be.

Buy a $1K headset to play Pac-man is inane. We've already had 3D POV takes on Pac-man. This would enhance that a bit but new experience is what this is for. Playing old 2D with the headset is just going to add a lot of unnecessary eyestrain in a desperate bid for novelty. Focus on the new experiences.
