In my eyes, the Oculus Rift is the real next-gen gaming tech. PS4 and Xbox One are nice advancements but pale to the avenues the Oculus opens. Rumors of cost subsidizing sweetens the prospect further.
I have a Rift sitting here on my desk. After playing with it for a little over a month, I can say with certainty that this little gadget is The Next Big Thing. Yeah, right now the tracking is a little drifty and the resolution is pretty low (720p panel split between the two eyes.) but when the consumer edition comes out sporting 6 DOF magnetometer tracking and a 1200p screen, it really is going to change the way people consume media.

Agreed. I saw a virtual movie theater in a video demo for the Rift...I can't wait to see what the Rift community thinks of next. To give a sense of creative scale, imagine Skyrim mod enthusiasm for something like the Rift. Yes, I had used the word Rift in ever sentence. Somebody is excited about the Rift.
