OCZ Vertex 2 failed suddenly, PC Won't recognise it

On Sunday night, after watching a movie my PC forze for a few moments, then I got the Blue Screen of Death & my PC shut down. After attempting to turn my PC on again, I went to my BIOS & my SSD was no longer visible. Tried connectioning & disconnecting, nothing. I couldn't load the OS since it was on the SSD. I have a 2 TB Hard Drive that I use for my games, movies, music etc. I suspect a logic failure on the SSD's part, was only 3 years old. Ordered another one online. Just want some opinions. Thanks

Unfortunately OCZ internal controller parts are easy to brick. That is what it sounds like. I would suggest getting either a Samsung, Intel, or SanDisk SSD as they use different and much more reliable controllers.

Thank you for the tip: I've already ordered a Crucial M550 256 GB model since it matched my budget. I would have went for a Samsung 850 Pro if I had more cash.

Also, may I ask if the files on my 2 TB HDD still be functional after I install the new SSD? I'd imagine I'd have to do some re-configuring.

The files on your hd should not be touched. As soon as you rebuild your new ssd (lay down an OS, and all of the updates) the files on your hd should be accessible just like before your ssd failure.
