We have an old Samsung Plasma TV (E450A1) which we use in conjunction with a Roku Ultra box. This setup has served us well for more than a couple of years. Recently, perhaps about a week ago, the TV and Roku would just abruptly shut off and power couldn't be immediately turned back on, the TV is entirely inert, until it chooses not to be. The unit would have to sit for a time (varies) before automatically turning itself on. Nothing I've done has remedied this AND even the introduction of new hardware and cables hasn't changed anything. I'm at a loss.

What I've tried.
Shut off all power settings in the Samsung and Roku. Failed to help.
Picked up and installed a APC SINE UPS. Failed to help.
Replaced all HDMI cables with new 4K capable HDMI cables. Failed to help.
Picked up a new ROKU Ultra. Failed to help.
Picked up and installed a new VIZIO television. Failed to help.

I'm at a loss. There are only so many parts and my gut was telling me power-heat issue, but apparently its not.

Any assistance would be appreciated. This is driving me nuts.

Possible power loss in the host electrical circuit?

Have you tried another known working wall outlet(s) on the current circuit and other circuits as well?

= = = =

Where are the TV and ROKU Ultra getting getting their power?

Direct from a wall outlet? Any interim power strips or surge protectors between TV and wall outlet?

Whatever the case may be, how is everything connected?

Provide a simple line diagram showing the connections that you are using.

Starter template for example purposes - not a recommended connection plan. Where ----> represents a power cord.

Wall AC Outlet ---- > UPS -----> Power bar serving ----> TV and ----> ROKU

Show all other devices and their respective connections as well.

Note: Check the UPS documentation regarding the use of surge protectors and power strips. Generally not recommended for use with a UPS.

The outlets are all operable. Prior to the UPS I had an APC surge protector in place but had been replaced by the UPS, the devices were never connected.

I did run an extension cord to a nearby outlet in the same room. Unfortunately, the problem continued. I'm thinking I may have used a longer extension out of the same room to ensure I was off the same circuit, but the APC SINE UPS should alleviate and dips or shortage.

Diagram (very generic):
Wall outlet > SINE UPS 1000VA > TV & ROKU
ROKU Content via wifi
ROKU via HDMI to TV

I lean toward power as well, the only logical cause, only calling an electrician to check my house and switch-box is an expense I'd rather avoid if possible.
