Odd Wifi connection behaviour

Hi.
I have a home network with 2 identical wireless Tenda routers (which are wired together) and they are set up as a "repeater" scenario whereby they both have the same SSID but different channels.
It works perfectly with 1 small exception:
My PC which has a Netgear USB wireless adapter keeps switching its connection to the "far" router when I have the primary one about 20 feet away. the far one has a 10% signal strength as it is on the other side of the house.
I have tried changing the profile in Netgear's settings but it is not working. I have since reinstalled the Netgear wireless device and my PC seems to now be connecting "natively" and without running the Netgear management software. It worked fine for a day or so but is now doing the same thing.
I would prefer to not have to isolate the connection by MAC address if possible.
Any suggestions?

Solution
Log in to the router you want to use. Find the MAC address of that wireless adapter and give it a static IP address. Also (very important!) make sure the the IP ranges are different on the routers. For example :192.168.1.(50-100) and 192.168.2.(2-49).
