Once again, the mechanisms of the greedy hollywood beloved patriot is thwarted by the internet.

Everyone except CUBA?
Welcome to the real world. Dont worry, one day the public will stand and it will be like the king of france Luis XIV, we will cut the head of those who rule :D. (Thou i might be dead by the time that happens).

Pretty much every single one of them would gratefully bend over for the US. China and Korea might want to negotiate first. Thankfully the most dominating world powers are usually the closest to falling.

Even as a US citizen, I am not happy my tax dollars go to extraditing someone for what is a civil offense when we can't even extradite drug kingpins and child pornographers.

People can bash Cuba all they want (oh noes the Commies! oh noes!) But they have universal healthcare & an average life expectancy higher than many 1st world countries.

How is it even a civil offense when it wasn't perpetrated in the country where the offense is alleged to have taken place?

It was a civil offense. If you read the ruling you'll notice that the justice agreed that the dual criminality necessary for extradition was met.

Under the Berne Convention the copyright law of the country in which a work is published applies, which is why they pushed to have him tried in the USA.

this wasnt piracy in the same vain as you download it or share it, which is why i was originally against this happening, but this douche set up a criminal empire of sorts, profiting off the piracy, and not in a non profit "keep the site and servers up" way.

this is the kind of crap that the laws were made to deal with, not the end user, but the person behind it, and unlike megaupload, this kid knew exactly what he was doing and there was no legitimate data at all.

because he is in the eu, im taking a wild guess that more than one treaty they have, he violated in a way that is a grey area that was set up to protect forums and such from a link posted to criminal activities. this kid decided to abuse those provisions, and thats why we are here today.

i would probably view this differently if it were a more... non profit kind of deal, but this douche made more than most people make a year off of a legal grey area... was for him originally, but the more i find out the less i want to see him not serve time in prison.

I'm not against filesharing via torrents and the likes, but this case is different from just normal piracy.
This kid actually made $230000 on others work
.
That is the same thing as the people that sold (or still sells) pirated dvd;s in some Asian countries like Thailand, in contrast to normal filesharing.

Still, it was wrong for them to even consider extradition.

Universal health Care is something that most (if not all) western european countries have.

Guess what? We also have a working democracy!

Cuba scores an abysmal 3.52 out of 10 in democracy index and is placed together with other "Authoritarian Regimes" (the ones getting a score below 4).

Not very flattering.....

"The Police of the World.
(And I'm a 'Murican)"

They aren't trying to be the police of the world (in this instance at least), they are trying to make the billionaire studios happy by at least looking like they are trying to make copyright pirates pay. It's a case of a special interest hijacking the U.S. government to do their bidding.

current copyright laws world wide as far as i know are either japans retardedly heavy handed style that is directed at the end user, and americas that is directed at counterfeit empires that is also usualy directed at an end user.

if i remember rither there were 2 kids, 1 had 16 songs and was beign sued for millions, that i am completely against, and this douche bag who made 230k off legal grey areas, and i hope he suffers horrifically for it, as he falls in like with counterfeit empires that most laws and treaties are made to defend against, and i would be surprised if the eu doesn't have something set up for this kind of crap even if it is just piggybacking off the american dmca type laws.

welcome to socialism and communism, your socialist/communist government will only help throw you under a bus and die and tax you for it.

he is not an american he does not have american rights, so i don't care what happens to him.

if you're from another country start becoming anti american if you don't want this to happen to you.

best thing you can do is pull another benghazi american embassy invasion and tell america "NO" with the biggest slap in the face possible.

just my advice because 99% of americans don't care about you, proof is the fact this isn't even in the news for most people to know about.

i find it hard to believe that he didn't break an international treaty with this crap and the scale he was doing it at.

a trial in america would lump so many other laws on him apposed to a home country one that would really not give a crap.
