Hi and thanks for reading this! I am looking to upgrade my ancient windows 7 pc to a new one, it is a custom built pc from a small local pc store that I have and I'm looking to upgrade with a pre built pc from ebuyer website WITHOUT a windows key.
I've read alot about weather I can use the windows licence (my old pc i use now with the key in question has been updated to windows 10) and have seen it mentioned if it is OEM it will not work, now I dont know how to tell, I believe it is retail but wanted to check,
When I got the pc it came all ready to go but I was given software discs for the pc including a boxed dvd installation recovery disc for windows 7 with the key printed inside the box. So i'm guessing that this is potentially a retail version that I can switch?
My husbands pre made pc came with windows installed from a mass copy we know is OEM, he has a sticker with the key code on the pc itself with no box so I presumed mine was retail but is there any definite way to check? I can't risk buying a pc and then not being able to xfer my windows key as then I'd be stuck with no funds for a windows code.
Thanks in advance xx
