Hey everyone,

I was just hoping I could get a second set of eyes to look at the office PC build I just put together for a friend. I told him I'd build him a computer to keep in his office for the next 6+ years for about $1,000 CAD.

The machine will only be used for word processing and accounting software really, but I wanted to give it some extra to make sure it lasts a while.

PC Part Picker list is here:

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Not sure why you picked that gigantic tower that will be 90% empty.
  • No need for an old spinner hard drive at all anymore.
  • Extra CPU cooler is unecessary.
  • Was an optical disc drive requested for this...

  • I'd use an Intel Comet Lake CPU for a build like this.
  • Pick a motherboard with built-in wifi.

I recently built a similar pc for my son using the i3-10100 processor.
It is quick.
It is also quiet, I used a small lian pc-02 case which has no active cooling
I like the suggestion by Archaic59.
If there is ever a need for a cd drive, use a simple usb connected drive.

This is what I went with, with a couple minor modifications.

The tower arrived today. It's beautiful and I'm jealous that it's not mine. Just waiting on the mobo so I can build.

The whole thing cost about 850 after taxes and shipping, including the windows license.

Thanks!
