Ogivar 386 SX-16 WTF ?

A coworker has just droped off 2 laptops.
- Ogivar 386 sx-16 model M00588, ati vga, 5 meg mem, 80 meg DD, 2400 modem, foppy 3 1/2, battery, mouse, ac charger, carying case.
What the hell do i do with that ? 😱
He says $90 CAD
My wife does "Word", "Wordperfect", uses web pages as docs(maybe she can work with them with just the text content)?
Win 3.1 would be ok with it right, but she works with office 97,98 and 2000. It's a damn nice machine (the original bill to it is $4097 CAD.

After booting the damn thing up i see:
640 mem conventiona
2,432 XMS
Also 2000 or something bad sectors on dd
There is a note on the laptop: 8meg ram ?? Where the hell is that ram ??
Still checking this thing, my first laptop. [-peep-] i already said "my" . Stop me please 😱
Also, to go to bios: delete, f1, esc are no go ! what is the damn key code for this damn bios :"Phoenix 80386 ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 05 - 070"

Just cheched 2nd laptop:
commodore C386SX-LT, 4 meg ram (real i say it), 40 meg DD (no bad sectors), no battery, 3 1/2, mono of course, serial mouse Dah!
Both these trilobites have win 3.1.
$90 CAD also.
What are these things good for, really ?

8 meg ram - you having a laugh. 2000 bad sectors - that hdd is on its way out mate - give it a few months and illegal operations, lockups and Blue Screen of Death will be a regular feature. Its a 386. It's a dinosaur - sorry if you like it but come on - I can find you a Laptop for what $200 that is 10x better.

Oh btw to get into BIOS it's F2. - just to prove i know what I'm on about.


Seriously mate I'ed look elsewhere - It's not money well spent - look further afield and invest a bit more money for something thats going to last longer than 6 months.

I bet thats a 2 meg graphics card.

Well those two 386 SX-16 laptopers are history.

But, yes i did make an offer. Sorry. I have "DINOSAUR DESEASE" . I offerd $50 CAD X .59 = $29.50 US about.
Cute little 386, (getting sentimental, see how the desease works), 4 ram, 40 DD(no bad sectors), screen ok, keyboard ok, mouse serial ok .
