I just built my first PC and started playing some intensive games. I've noticed that while playing these games, the CPU spikes up to a max of 85 C. I am using an AMD A6-5400K with stock cooler. Is this normal?

UPDATE: I just noticed that once it reaches these temps, it does not cool down.

Only the amount that's pre-applied.

Best budget cooler on the mar4ket make sure it will fit in your case.

I've got another cooler that fits (accidental order). Should I use that? Does thermal paste come off easily or will the cooler stick like glue?

Last summer, I had just bought a FX-8320. At stock speed and voltage with the stock fan, it didn't go past 65C. Maybe your mobo has a broken sensor. Or maybe you didn't installed the fan well

Also, if the temps are too high the CPU SHOULD throttle.

My PC is in a cabinet underneath the monitor. I've had multiple PCs there for years and it's gotten pretty hot there. In 2008, my PC literally started to smoke. I eventually got rid of the door and that solved the problem. Unless something could still happen.

Just a quick update. My newly installed CPU fan came with a PCI connector with a knob to control the fan speed. I found that by putting this at a high speed while playing games, my PC ran much cooler and quicker.
