Okay, recommended CPU?

I'm looking for CPU's since I have an old Core 2 Quad Q9550 which is good but it bottlenecks and get's too hot sometimes. Also the motherboard (DX38BT) sucks as it has audio failures, less of pc options and etc. So I'm looking for a Intel CPU + Motherboard as well as a PSU since that's old and makes my PC beep and crash my games. Right now I'm looking at the Corsair HX850 80 plus Gold. Is that good. Also my pc is for ultra gaming (games running at high qualities with the GTX 760 and at 1080P) with little bit of 3d modelling on the side. I'm looking at the Core i7. Is that too much for my build. Also, price doesn't matter but I want to get a CPU that lasts me 7 years like my Core 2 quad did. Thanks.

If price doesn't matter then there are a few things to consider.

I take it you want to re-use the GTX760.

You can build a DDR3 system today using a Z97 motherboard and an i7-4790k as the best possible gaming configuration, for your money.

On the other hand, you could build a DDR4 system using an X99 board and an i7-5820k, which would allow for some future upgrades.

The Corsair HX850 is probably overkill, but it is a good power supply.

You sir gave me a better PSU for the money that outputs 744 watts on the 12V rail for my GPU so no problems would occur.

The HX 850 is overkill for almost all single gpus, really only for sli/crossfire.

This 620w Seasonic m12ii is more than capable of powering a gtx970/980, because your current gtx760 will need to be replaced before your 7 year time limit is up, technology will slap it back to what a GS 8800 is now.

While currently all you need is an i5, I believe the i7 will be of more use in future gaming. And yes with some OC, you'll most definitely need a decent cooler.

If you have the money I am all about an i7. But, If your primarily concerned with gaming there really is not much difference in gaming performance between an i7 and an i5. Downgrading could save a few bucks to use elsewhere in your build.

Does your 3d modeling benefit from hyper threading?

Also, I have had three corsair power supplies in different builds and never had an issue with any of them. (Currently on an RM1000)

Thank you all for your help. I'm going with the Motherboard suggested by Karadjgne. While I have CM evo 212 plus which is well. The i5 4690k will do since I should save money and I'm going for evga 850 G2 PSU or xfx 750 black edition. I might do dual gpu (SLI) in the future so yea.
