Hi everyone, a new one here. Need some help guys.

i5-7400
Gtx 1060 3gb
Ram 8gb
HDD 1Tb

Is it okay to put this build with old psu - FSP BLUE STORM II 400w?

For new games. Does anyone know anything about that? Won’t it broke anything especially my gpu?

Ps. This build is ready and working, and I’m planning on getting that. But the PSU question really bothers me.

Solution
65w cpu
120W gpu
9W HDD
50W on motherboard
Yeah, you're good to go

To make it more sure, here a link of power consumption used on i7-8700K, Z370 mptheboards and GTX 1080Ti. They are more power hungry build up than yours, and all of them use below 400W under heavy stress.

Then again, I cannot guarantee the quality of the product. FSP is a nice builder, I used 2 FSP Hexa 500W (the first hexa is 10 years old, the second Hexa2 is 4 years old) and still running just fine.

Wonder why you go with 400W model, the price difference with 500W is not worth mentioning. Take a look below as example...
How old is it, I just found a review from 2008. 2 things here, if it’s the same as the 2008 version then it won’t support all the power states of modern cpu’s, you get around this by disabling the power states in the BIOS but it’s not ideal. The other thing is psu components deteriorate with both time and usage, if it’s 5+ years old I’d replace it anyway.

I expect it is well out of warranty, if it fails it could damage other components including the gpu and you have no warranty to claim on. Personally I wouldn’t risk any new hardware on it and I would retire this psu and replace with something modern with a warranty.

I wouldn't recommend either one of them.

I recommend one of these.

SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply US$35 under newegg promotion.

You can get good psu when they have it on sale with very low price. That seasonic is one of the top brand and fully modular.

The FSP Blue Storm II has two +12V rails with 14A and 15A on each of them. That means it's not even a 400W power supply. They are crap for gaming rigs. Don't mislead anyone here.

I did gave him another much better option. $35 for 520W modular seasonic is not to be missed by anyone with low budget build.
