Hey Cummunity!

I fear my old GPU grew tired on me after 6 years of abuse.
After some troubleshooting (clean drivers, cleaning, new coolingpaste) I've come to the conclusion that probably one of the fans isn't doing too well. Might be overdue to an upgrade anyways...

my Build:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Mainboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Model: H97N-WIFI
GPU: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 16GB
Netzteil: beQuiet E10 500W
Tower: Cooltek U2 mini ITX

So, what new GPU would you recommend? Any other stuff that would need an upgrade, too?

maybe ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1050/1080 Ti Mini ?

Thanks so much for you help and insight!

I would honestly keep the gpu (the 970 is still a decent card nowadays, especially with the prices of gpus in the current market), the psu and the case. I would think of upgrade cpu and motherboard, which price to performance will be your biggest boost in terms of performance. Depends if you wanna go the amd route or stay intel. If you go amd you could get a 3600 and a b450 motherboard like the gigabyte b450 i aorus pro (which should roughly put you at around 350 dollars/eu) or you could go intel with a 10400f and msi mpg b460i gaming edge (still around 300/350 dollars eu).

That's the upgrade i would do rn tbh.

Absolutely neither. Especially not a 1050. The bare minimum upgrade would be getting a 1080 ti, but even then, you'd pay a ludicrous amount of money for an almost 7 years old card. Keep saving and keep an eye out for a 3060 or even better a 3060 ti when they drop in prices. Besides, that rig is getting old, so i would look into upgrading the whole thing as you keep saving money.

4 cores in 2021 aren't really cutting it anymore.

thx for you reply :)

Yeah, well that's why I decided to ask you guys and not to trust my own google-research ^^
Is there anything in that build I could reuse/keep?
