Question Old case, new motherboard ?

Hello all, I'm installing these new components into an HAF912 case from 2011 that I've had since then.

(All new)
Asus Prime X670E Pro
AMD 7600 cpu
G.Skill S5 2x16 5200
XFX RX6600
Thermaltake GF3 850W Full modular

. . . into
HAF912
WD250GB Sata HD (4 months old)

I've read up on all the components and it appears the only thing that might need an adapter is the USB hook up from the motherboard to the case front panel. I don't see anything else that might cause an issue I'm just dotting all the i's before proceeding.

Would there be anything I overlooked that would make any of this not work? I plan on replacing the case with a new one in about 6 months but that's 6 months from now. Any insights welcome. Have to love TomsHardware, I've used this website for research for 15 years I'd guess.

You might want to wait for the motherboard to arrive, then cross reference the standoffs that are installed on your case to correspond with the holes on the motherboard. Sometimes there can and will be a stand off in an area that has soldering points that will lead to a short on the motherboard(which should be avoided).

Outside of that, you should be good to go. On a side note, are you going with the stock cooler to cool your processor, sticking to that 7600(non-X) processor? If so, you could've looked at the B650 chipset instead of the X670E...assuming that the X670E is priced higher than the B650 offerings where you're located. If you intend to upgrade the processor soon enough, then disregard my prior sentence.

Thanks for the response this is what I was looking for, any tips on things, no matter how small, to look out for. I'll check the standoffs. And yes I'm using the air cooler that comes with the stock 7600 cpu, its only 65W and I won't be overclocking. My first choice for a motherboard was the AsRock B650E PG Riptide but its been out of stock for quite a while as are the other ASRock B650E motherboards and the Asus X670E is about at the same price point on Newegg. I started looking for components 5+ months ago and the X670's were quite a bit costlier.

I've built new systems in old Lian Li and Cooler Master cases dating back to 2006 or earlier. Just check the standoffs (mounting pillars) match the holes in your motherboard. Unscrew and relocate any metal pillars that are in the wrong position, which can occur if you're moving from full ATX to microATX or vice versa.

Double check there are no extraneous metal pillars in the wrong locations. A short circuit from the underside of the mobo down to chassis could kill your mobo. Magic smoke time.

If your case comes with only USB2 front ports, you can fit an adapter in an unused 3.5 or 5.25" drive bay.

I've used this (fairly expensive) Graugear panel, to provide modern USB-A and USB-C sockets. Check your motherboard to see if it has both headers before ordering anything similar.
