Old computer needs new graphics card

I have an old Dell XPS 410, and it does not have an HDMI connection, and I need one for a new LCD TV. Therefore, I need a new graphics card. The Dell has some fairly severe limitations:

1. Power supply is only 375 watts.
2. The Dell XPS 410 has only 1 PCI-E 6pin power connector for a video card.
3. The PCI-e slot is 1.1 -- I don't know whether modern graphics cards will be backward compatible.
4. Current graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE. I'd like to stick with NVidia because the drivers have been great, but AMD would be fine if there's a good AMD fit for my system.
5. In addition to the HDMI connection, I need a DVI connection for my Samsung display.

I do no gaming, so I need just minimal graphics power. More important is the card be quiet, and hopefully inexpensive.

This question has been asked here before, but a fairly long time ago and the cards recommended then are generally no longer available.

I was really excited about your recommendation. I guess PCI Express 2.1 is backward compatible with 1.1. And the price of $29.99 is really great. BUT ... under the details page at Newegg, it says: "System Requirements: Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply." My power supply is 375 watts. I've read in Dell discussions that the 375 watt power rating is conservative, but I really don't want to cut it that close.

Any card like you recommended with a less hefty power requirement?

Opinions please on this one -- says only 300 watts power supply needed. Some reviewers say fan is loud.

Response from manufacturer says "The card requires 300 watts of power and 18 amps on the 12v rail" Just checked the XPS 410 owners manual specs page and that detail about amps on rail isn't listed. Dell power supply can't be that wimpy (can it?).

One Newegg reviewer of card said: "Did not come with a low profile blank. It my fault i should have better looked at the description. But a Low profile card should come with a 15cent blank." Not sure what that means.

scannall, I tried the link but got "bad request." I then went directly to Newegg and input Item 6814130602 and got "We have found 0 items that match Item 6814130602."

the 210 or 5450 will work with your psu either card will draw less than your current card. btw wattage recommendations are BS

But the 5450 is much better for your usage because of its newer video decoding engine and dx11

scannall, Apologies for claiming the link was bad -- I had Firefox addons HTTPS Finder and HTTPS Everywhere turned on in Firefox and they interfered with the link you provided; my bad.

Thanks for the wattage clarification. And you're also right about the enhanced video decoding of the 5450, and at $30 bucks it's minimal risk.

When you ignore the graphics card scene for 3 years and come back to it, it's overwhelming; you guys have been very helpful.

Your power supply should be fine. As far as the low profile black goes, at the back of the card where the connection to the monitor goes is a long metal plate with a tab at the bottom and a screw hole at the top to hold it snugly and in place. The most common size is standard. But some cases are 'skinnier', and use a low profile plate.

That's the one I got; received it from Newegg and just installed it. Installation was perfect. All is good. THANKS to everyone who helped out.
