Old GPU died, getting a GTX 960 - should I wait for the 4GB card or just get the 2GB?

Hi, as the title says, my old GPU died and I'm in a need of a new one.
I'm planning to get a GTX 960, however, I'm not sure whether I should wait for the 4GB version of the card(which should come out this month), or just go for the 2GB that is available right now since I'd rather get it as soon as possible.
Also, my budget is pretty tight as it is so I'm not sure if I'll be able to shell out more for extra memory.
So will the extra 2 gigs make a noticeable difference? I'll be mostly gaming on 1080p, and I do like my textures in high res.

Thing is, I start my semester next week, and I'd like to play some vidya while I still have time(can't really do that with built-in intel graphics). The 960 isn't fast enough to play the heavier games with 4xAA/8xAA cranked up, so maybe 2GB will be enough?

4GB could be better than 2GB, noticeably better in some games possibly, but probably not necessarily massively better, and arguably overkill. Really it's only modded games that need > 2 GB at 1080p.

Given the choice between buying a 2 GB card now or waiting for a 4 GB card that you probably won't be able to afford and if you could you'd be unlikely to see much difference anway, I'd plump for buying the card now personally.

the way i see it the 4GB will be wasted on 960 unless probably paired in SLI setup. for a single card config just get that 2GB version.

^ +1 to this. I do not think the 960 will utilize 4GB by itself at 1080p.

Yeah I think I'll go for the 2GB card. Considering my 1GB 560Ti held up pretty good, I think 2GB will be fine.

but as i said unless you were planning for SLI setup going for the 4GB version probably will only going to waste your money. i speak of this based on my experience with 660SLI
