So for my build I’m looking at getting everything new except a hard drive. So this means I’ll be getting an ssd too but I’m just wondering what I’ll need to do with the hard drive since going into a new build
Any answers greatly appreciated
The ssd will probably be 500gb and my hard drive is 2Tb if that helps at all

Solution
You can just plug it in.

I would copy everything you wanted to keep to the new ssd and then reformat.

If there is too much on there, then at least delete your windows directory.

You will also need to set the boot order in BIOS to make sure your new ssd was the boot disk.

You can either use the hdd as an internal drive for extra junk storage or you can put it into an external USB enclosure and use it as a backup device.

Or you can not use it for anything.

I don't understand your question.

Probably should I said it better in the question but what I was wondering is would I have to do a clean sweep of the hard drive or could I just plug in the hard drive and ssd and just go
