I got an old Dell Inspiron 570 that I’m updating for my mom.

•Windows 10
•Motherboard- 4GJJT
*•WD 240gb SSD
•8gb (4x2gb) ram
•SeaSonic S12II 520W ATX 80 PLUS BRONZE PSU
•Wireless PCI-E card

I was going to go with the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition - 125w CPU, but the CoolMaster Hyper 212 Evo is too big. Can I use the stock heat sink/fan or is there a better one that will work? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What processor did the prebuilt come bundled with out of the box? You could look into another aftermarket cooler that's lower in profile but they might cost you a pretty penny. For all intents and purposes, you might find that the upgrades on that prebuilt don't give you a net boost when you're Windows 10. If I were you, I'd have gotten ahead with a rebuild using something a few years prior, like something from 4 years ago as Windows 10 is moving away from older hardware support.

^ I struggled to make any sense of an i3-2100 build for a friend of mine and then abandoned it seeing how Windows 10 was hopelessly slow on it. I then resorted to an i7-4770(non-K) build for him to get his feet wet.
