Old laptop options

Hi, I have just learned that my old laptop has died, battery pack no longer works and it is not available anywhere, I have already bought a new laptop but I was wondering if you can recommend what to keep from the old one for spares.

perhaps the hard drive. You can get an external enclosure with USB attachment for <$20 and then you can re-use the drive as additional storage or backup. You can try and sell the RAM.

Craigslist, eBay, or any similar local option should be fine.
