I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but motherboards are the only thing I actually know absolutely nothing about. I started everything with a mobo someone else picked for me, and I've been adding/changing all other parts for years but now I'm finally considering upgrading CPU and I honestly don't know if my motherboard will be compatible?

It's a gigabyte ep45-ud3l

For CPU upgrade I'm currently choosing between -

i5-3570K Ivy Bridge (LGA 1155 77W)
and
i5-4670K Haswell (LGA 1155 84W)

Are either of those compatible? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I wouldn't even know what makes a good motherboard so I'd be glad to just stick with this one if it's possible since it fits everything else I'm using.

Kind Regards!

I really would prefer to upgrade my motherboard then, rather than searching for backward compatible CPUs...

Could someone please recommend a decent motherboard? One that is LGA 1155/LGA 1150 compatible? or a link to a list similar to the excellent list I was given to pick a new PSU?

I dont have any preference of manufacturer or anything like that.

but looking at this article, although Broadwell would use the same 1150 socket, they need the new '97' chipset to use the new features.
