Hello! I've decided to build an entry level pc with new/old parts that I have, but I'll need to wait a bit until I get a new PSU. So I was wondering if my really old one can power this PC for a while?
The PSU: http://i.imgur.com/78IBQmt.jpg [1]
The PC that need power:
MOBO (new): MSI H81M-P33
CPU (new): Intel G3258 (Obviously not planning to OC it until I get a new PSU)
GPU: Asus R7 240 2GB DDR3 Low Profile
RAM: 4GB DDR3 and 2GB DDR3
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM
Would that old PSU power this PC for a month? Thanks in advance!

Great! But that PSU is like 7 years old and made by a pretty infamous brand. Should I still trust it? Are the amps ok?

Thanks for your reply! What can be the reason of the shutdown? Not enough Watts/amps or just being old in general?

a bit of both actually. You can check the requirements of your build with this tool:

add another 50w to be sure.

A major factor is the quality of the PSU itself, as yours is an old budget PSU it might well be throwing out less amps than it should. You will know if theres not enough power, your PC will just turn off INSTANTLY, no crash, BSOD, just off.

Alternatively, depending on how much you care how your PC looks you could buy a second "cheap" PSU and use the old one to only power your Graphic card for instance, if the power cables are compatible.
I've done this my self, using a 450W to power the motherboard, HDD, CPU, and DVD, but using my 350W spare, to power the GPU alone.
