There is an old software called Free Sound Recorder. It worked on my old computers with a Windows XP, and Windows Vista. It was the best. It was so good that it was the only reason I kept my older computer becuase it worked. I can't get it to work on new computers. I have tried doing the compabitily thing. I don't know hwo to use a viruatl machine. Is there any simple way to get it to work? The company does not make the sfoteware anymore then.

The software is still available and supported according to their site. You may have to download the latest version.

Thank you but I know that page it does not work then any other suggestion other then using something else beucase so far I have tried so many of the well known ones and none of them are as good serisouly .

If you should choose to give up on this program (which may never work on Windows 11 for security reasons) you could use the free Audacity sound recording and editing program as a windows 11 compatible alternative.
Yes but that one is not as good it is more compliated and it doesn't let you make the quality better then .

The link for this software works fine. As it links directly to an executable file, you need to right click on the download button and select "Save Link As". It installs fine on my system with no problems.

Just to make sure youre not talking about teh link to the page right then? Youre talking about after you go to the page, and scroll down to the blue bar, where it says download free sound recorder? If so that does not work. I have tried that on this computer. I have tried that on other computers. I have tried a few times in the last year. The company itself has a page that doesn't even offer it then. So hwo in the world is it working for you?

And by the way, even if you have it, the origianl problem is still there which is this does not work on the new windows. Reembmer my original post is how it's an old software and it does not work on the newer windows then. So how did you get it? And even if you got it , which Windows are you using then?

Which version are you using.? The one I downloaded using google from the link is v3.33.1.0.

So just to make sure you went to the page, you scroled down to where it says download, and then it worked? No it does not work. And by the way even if you go to the actual page of that makes the software it does not work then..........but again..............even if you did get it............it does not work on a new windows............you have to use it on an old windows..............Which Windows are you using then?

I am running Windows 10 21H2 OS Build 19044.1415 and YES - It works fine for me from the link I posted. As stated though, you need to right click on the button and select "Save Link as". It will then download. If you can't get it to download, you may have something that is blocking it.

Your browser may state that it can't download the file securely, so you may have to tell it to keep the file.

Well im not sure why it wont work. And again I have tried multple computers. And the company stopped making the software. And the company doesnt even let you download it from there. And even if it worked how did you get it to work for Windows 10? The software was made before windows 10 then.

With Google, it will show the filename in on the bottom of your browser, click on the ^ button and select "Keep".

Microsoft Edge will open a new window "Downloads" at the top of the browser with a security message saying "FreeSoundRecorder_NGR5G-1.exe can't be downloaded securely" when you "Save Link as" . Move your mouse over the security message, "Right Click" and select "Keep". Note that the filename you recieve will be slightly different.

So I have no idea what you are refering to. When I click the link it goes to the page I wrote. When I right click and download it says it can't securiy download it.

I don't know what would be causing a "Network Error" message with Microsoft Edge unless Avast in blocking it thinking its an unsafe file. I use BitDefender.

Maybe try Google again. It will show a window at the bottom of your browser with an Red Exclamation symbol with the filename "FreeSoundRecorde....exe can't be downloaded securely"
It will also have a button "Discard" and the ^ carat symbol beside it. Click on the carat symbol, and select "Keep".
If it comes back with a "Network error" , then Avast is probably blocking it.

Well let's assume you are right, even if I downloaded it, and installed it, it won't work on Windows 11. It will only workd on some older Windows. And I tried my computer with Windows 11 to make it so that it is as if it is an older windows, and it still won't work then........is there really no soluation?!?!?...............how can it be like this, dont these computer people know that lots of them want to use old softwares that cant be used on new computers then?

Just so you know I used edge. It doesnt work still, but it shows something else then. It goes to a red screen, and basically says this has been reported to contain spam and malware, and then when I click the option continue, it goes to a page that says Hmm...can't reach this page. Then below that it says connection was reset. And then it gives some options then.

And it says nothing about Avast then.

Like usually when Avast

Like usually when Avast blocks something, it pops up and gives a sound then, this does not seem to have anything to do with Avast. It seems t be just not working. It seems to be coming from that what ever browser is being used.

So I tried again like you wrote, nothing came on the lower right hand side in red, or a carat symbol, or giving the option to keep, or anything like that.

Well - only other things I can ask?

Are you running your connection through a VPN. If so, try turning it off.
Make sure you are saving the file to your local hard drive. Not a network shared drive.

Just so you know, the software is now owned by Beijing Aviation Trust Intellectual Property Consulting Co,, China. I'm in Canada so I have no issues but if you are in the US or elsewhere, it may be blocked by your ISP provider.

Have you tried contacting them through their support page telling them you have issues downloading their product?
