Old Storage Operating system? HELP PLEASE

So recently i was developing my parts list and i had my old windows 8 hard drive sitting next to me, i wanted to use that instead of buying a new one. I realized that windows 8 is on that hard drive since i used it with my windows 8 gaming laptop.The Hard drive is a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB. TO my main point , if i just popped that into my pc without buying windows 8 would windows 8 be functional on my pc?If yes i save like 200$ SO PLEASE HELP

It is unlikely you could get it to boot unless it is on a very similar system board.This may also take some repairing.(windows install, drivers etc)
If it is a version that came pre installed on a machine the license will be installed on that boards bios and unusable again.
If you are under any illusion the drive could be easily swapped into another pc to get round microsofts fee it is unlikely you have the correct version.
Even with a transferrable licence I would always advise a clean windows install from scratch.
What if i unregistered it, which there is a way and i got the product key (which there is a way) and i verified that product key and windows world work, right?
