Question Old tv wont show

Hello there
I have an old tv that has not been turned on for more than a decade
When trying to connect a ps3 or a PC via vga to it the little light on that shows that the tv is on but black screen
Now I know old stuff can get to be wreked when not used but in this situation I would like to know if there is a way to check if the screen is dead or just some settings

When using a tv remote on it pressing menu or avtv button does nothing also on tv

Turn it on with nothing connected, go to a normal tv channel and see what it does, if it shows static it should be ok, if it doesn't show anything/black screen then it's dead.

If its an analog TV designed for interlaced signals and you're trying to connect digital devices with no interlacing that could be part of the problem.
