I'm about to put together a new PC and I'm wondering if my old PSU is still good to go or if I should look into buying a new one. The old one is an XFX P1-850X-XXB9 850W, still actually has a newegg page up (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207024).

Anyways, not sure if anything has changed in the last 5 years in terms of connectors, whatever. Anyone able to chime in on of this will work in a new rig? If I'm better off doing some shopping anyone able to recommend a PSU brand?

For reference I am going to be getting a 1080, I7-8700k, gigabye Aorus 5.

Thanks for any insight

Your power supply is good quality, based on the Seasonic AT platformn, https://www.kitguru.net/components/power-supplies/zardon/xfx-pro-series-650w-power-supply-review/
A common problem you find with older power supply is the use of group regulation on the secondary side, which causes loose voltages in modern systems. This isn't an issue with your PSU.
Also way more than enough wattage, and sufficient connectors.

Even 500w from a good power supply is more than enough. Also, "Bronze" and "Gold" only relate to efficiency, so only if you're worried about electricity consumption should you consider the ratings.

The PSU is good enough, yes it is only Bronze and not Gold however if you want to lower your budget or spend the money else where, then there will be no issue.

Just remember that nothing lasts forever, so perhaps replacing it is not a bad idea, but it is not mandatory.

Thanks for the useful info Rexper. I think I'll go ahead and pick up the corsair unit cdog suggested. Was planning to sell individual components out of my old machine but maybe I'll just look into selling it as a working PC, it's still pretty nice honestly.

You won't need the RM750X, or any 750W power supply, unless you intend to SLI / crossfire/ multiple-GPU. Even an overclocked i7 8700k + OC GTX 1080ti will be fine on a 550W PSU.
RMx are great, other options include EVGA G3, Seasonic Focus Plus, Bitfenix Whisper, be Quiet Straight Power 11.
