Older AMD m5a97 LE R2.0 memory upgrade questions

I've recently been upgrading my system adn am looking at some new ram heres what im rocking.


CPU: AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz 6-Core OEM/Tray Processor
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($89.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Kingston Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.98 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 6870 1GB Video Card

I know my cpu and mobo are outdated and due for updates but for time being would amd's R9 gamer series RAM do me well? i have it at a good price locally and am thinking of picking up the 2133 MHz 2x4gb to try and speed things up a little.

compatability issues? would 2400 be too much on my current system? could i run 2400 and 2133 at the same time (at 2133 for both obviously) until i can upgrade my mobo/cpu. is 16gb even necesarry for desktop gaming?

responses to any/ all of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

With a 6100 I'd prob go 1600 DRAM, maybe 1866. Doubt if you'll be able to carry 2133, even with an OC on the CPU
