[SOLVED] Older Computer build with ddr3 pc3 memory

My son and I are trying to build an older compute…it boots up fine with two 1GB ddr3 pc3-1333 sticks. We tried to purchase some additional memory...two 4GB ddr3 pc3-1333 sticks. It won’t boot at all with one or both sticks. Does this mean the motherboard won’t support the 4GB sticks for some reason?

Forgot to mention…not booting up…meaning it will not POST

Knowing what motherboard this is will help with any diagnostics from out here.
Also, the specific RAM sticks involved.

And we did try reseting the bios.

If this is a 32 bit system it can't allocate over 4GB.

Apparently Acer doesn't offer info on that anymore, but found it on a Malay support site which says it only supports 4GB.

The motherboard specs say max 8GB…but since there are 4 slots, im guessing the max per slot is 2GB ?

Yes, that is very likely the case.

Hmm, very strange. I found a model of it on eBay which comes equipped with an E5500, which is a 64 bit CPU.

The only place I was able to find spec in a quick search was here:

which states max supported memory at 4GB.

The old Acer Aspire X3810/X5810 models use that mainboard. The service manual states that only DIMM size 1 GB or 2 GB is supported.
