I have an old version of Adobe Acrobat 6 that is really not running well on my newer systems. I did a nono by buying a copy of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on EBay. Product looked fine, but once installed, serial number was ruled invalid, and Adobe did not want to elaborate at all. Basically disconnected me in the middle of the chat. I do not have a bunch of money to buy newest Adobe Acrobat, but would like to create signable contracts on my system to use on a laptop to sign people up to my new service company. Just curious as to a way to make the version of XI I have work? Or buy an older version that will work with newer OS. Thank you for reading, and please advise if you have a solution for me. LT 🙁

Have you considered any of the Acrobat alternatives?
Foxit, for instance.

Buying software on eBay almost never works out. At best you get the license sticker/key of an already registered and being used copy, or more common you get an email with a key on it that is also already being used, or worst case scenario they just make a completely bogus one up.

It appears that Acrobat 9 does in fact work correctly, but you will likely have issue finding a legitimate copy.

Software required for your business to operate is part of the cost of doing business, my most cost effective advice is pay the $13 a month for the subscription service of Adobe standard DC until you can afford to buy the software outright (or you could just keep doing the subscription).

Didn't know there were alternatives. I am a bit ignorant since I have never actually been in the position to create documents, only doing fill ins of tax forms, etc. Thank you. It is good to know that Adobe doesn't have the world by the "you know what".

Does Adobe allow the sale of it's products from one person to another? Like a transfer of ownership? I know that Autodesk will not allow it, an since these two are giant companies that can write their own rules, was just curios if Adobe has same rule?

Thank you gentlemen, I believe I found a legit copy of Acrobat 9 Standard, which may work fine. If not, I may go to the Fox or free version. Thank you for your time and shared knowledge, it is most appreciated :)

For any licensed software, buying from ebay or other off channel sources is always a crapshoot. And you usually lose that crapshoot.
Especially if it is significantly cheaper than the normal retail sources.

Good luck.

EBay does have a guarantee, and I had to use it once just lately. Since I sell a bit of my old tools there, and misc. computer parts, I have made them some money. This guy with Acrobat 9 is a legit seller, so I'll see what happens? If it doesn't register, I'll go through the channels again. $63 for an old version of 9 Std. I think is about right? No big discount like the guys that are offering Acrobat XI Pro for $69-$85, that is where I got stung. I'm really bad at picking stocks too. LOL

That is pretty much the only thing I use ebay for. Obscure parts I absolutely cannot get elsewhere.

A windows latch for a 1997 truck. An old 8mm video camera, so I can convert some old videos into .avi because the last camera/player I had broke.

New parts? No. Too many scammers. Just the other day, there was a guy here with a 4TB HDD bought from ebay. Turns out it was an old 250GB drive, with a 4TB WD Blue label slapped on it.
Or a guy that bought a supposedly 'brand new' Samsung SSD. Turns out it had been used for 54 days, and powered on 700+ times.
New? Not even.
Yes, ebay has 'protection'. But I'd rather not go through that hassle.

Licensed software? Not even a little bit.

I actually lucked out on a version of Acrobat 9 standard (from EBay). It did register OK. But all it was, was a disc, yet it did work just fine. Since I only want a signable copy of a simple contract, this might suffice for now? All I need now is customers to do business with, lol. That is where the real work is needed, but I would like to have everything look and be legit. They are not big time contracts, just simple agreements to let people know what to expect 😉
