I have a Biostar M6VLR motherboard and have a problem with my onboard video card. if i turn on my PC i can see everything and start normally but when it gets to the starting windows 2000 screen after that it goes blank. before it gets blank it gives a lot of colours so i think it is a video card problem. and when i install a new PCI video card then my PC hangs on the start up screen.
how can i solve this problem or how can i disable the onboard video card.
thanx a lot

It might also be that you have your windows video settings set to high for hte monitor. As soon as it enters windows and begins using those invalid settings, the monitor blanks out. You can test this by pressing f8 when booting to get to the menu where you can select safe mode, or vga mode, and if you get into windows then reset the video settings to something lower.

It could also be drivers as suggested above.

As for the pci card hanging, you may need to disable the onboard video in the bios. The board may automatically disable the onboard vid when another video card is inserted, but I don't know if it would do that for a pci card.
